Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan brings an annual summer Shakespeare theatre festival to the public. The festival celebrates plays by William Shakespeare and other related works through the talents of local artists. PCL’s Special Projects division worked closely with the client to deliver new civil infrastructure, a 250 concrete-seat amphitheater with tent coverings, and three additional buildings used for the bar, box office and dressing room. Additional work included landscaping, exterior lighting, new walkways, fencing and a river view deck. The three structures were built off site using modular construction methods to accelerate the schedule in a cost-effective way. Once the structures arrived on site, the team hoisted these into place while underground services and landscaping activities progressed.
The new facility offers Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan a permanent structure, reduces their overall operational costs and celebrates over 30 seasons of theatre.
